Christmas Time 2011

The stockings were hung or rather lined up by the chimney with care.... and Santa came and filled them! Christmas was so fun. We had 10 adults and 5 wonderful grandchildren. They really added the sparkle and magic to our Christmas!
We really missed the Dunns up in Spokane and Jake and Summer, who had flown to Arizona for the holidays.

The day after Christmas we threw Tiara a baby shower. It was no small miracle that we were able to recover from the Christmas Day wrappings and fun to hosting 40 or so people for a shower. But.... thanks to all our family, they jumped in and worked hard to the very last minute and it was a lovely event. Tiara was blessed by so many friends and family and now has some very nice baby boy supplies to begin this new adventure. Thank You to all for your support!

Friends and Family Bowling Party 2011
It's a strange but very fun tradition we started about 4 or 5 years ago.... our Christmas Eve Bowling party with Friends and Family. It started out as a way to get together with our family friends, Brad and Laurie Nielson. Then Kurt married Michelle Parkinson so we invited the Rob and Tracey Parkinson family who are also our good friends. That bowling party was a spark that eventually got Chad Parkinson to ask out and marry our daughter, Brittany. Then we thought... this is so much fun we need our cousins the Reid and Cindy Fullmer family to come. Then Tiara married Blake Skidmore so we included their family. Treagan married Allie Willis and we also invited their family this year. We missed them but hope they'll be able to come next year. My sister Chantelle and her fun-loving 4 teenagers have moved to Rexburg so it was fun to have them join us this year, too. Thanks to Teton Lanes for letting us reserve half the bowling alley and bring lots of pizza and yummy holiday food in. It just turns out to be a fun way to gather with friends, get some exercise, get out of the house and let the families mingle.

The pictures that follow are some of our
Christmas prep. The first is a picture of the plate of goodies I took around to some of my friends and neighbors. I made 20 plates and wish I could've made 20 more. I still missed some dear friends but I just ran out of time! The snowman and reindeer cookies were ideas from my addiction- pinterest. I also made Nanaimo Bars-a blast from my Canadian past. YuM, aye.
Pinterest is also where I got the idea to make Candy Cone Christmas trees instead of Gingerbread houses. Lots easier and fun for all ages. The last picture is Talon finding our stash of Christmas stockings for Santa to fill and deciding they needed to be worn like stockings!

Christmas 2010 was a wonderful 2 weeks of family, friends and fun.
I wish I knew how to rearrange my postings (The pictures are at the bottom about 6 older posts....) but it started with a surprise visit from Aubrey and 4 of our wonderful grandchildren. They knew they wouldn't be able to come during the Christmas holidays and I was whining a little about them coming and seeing our 14 foot Christmas tree, so Aubrey decided to surprise Grandma Konda and come a week before Christmas. It was a wonderful weekend playing with our grandkids, doing crafts, baking and going to see "Tangled". Thank you so much Aubs! I love you!
At the beginning of the Christmas week, some of the other kids started arriving with Blake and Tiara from Moses Lake, and then Chad and Brittany and baby Brynn from Ogden. We had our annual bowling party with the Neilsons, Parkinsons, Skidmores and Fullmer cousins on Christmas Eve. It was alot of fun to get together.
Christmas Eve was back down to Rex and I, Jacob and Treagan. We decided to go out for dinner and the kids chose a BBQ restaurant in Idaho Falls. On the way home we stopped and visited Butch and Ladonna, and it was a nice visit for all of us. It was strange to not have any little kids around to do the nativity or any little program.
Christmas morning was low key... Jake and Treagan actually arranged a basketball game with the Neilsons! Rex and Brad Neilson, Kevin, Kurt and Kyle, Chad and Keaton all came and played for a couple of hours. I got everything ready for a fancy Christmas Day dinner. Chad and Brittany (baby Brynn), Blake and Tiara, joined Jake and Treagan, Rex and I and it finally felt like Christmas with lots of our kids around us. We opened our stockings and presents at 3:30 in the afternoon! It was a wonderful gift giving time and the last gifts were nerf guns and the college boys and Rex all turned into teenagers with a fun nerf gun shootout.
Sunday we jumped in the car and drove to Salt Lake to Grandpa and Grandma Lyons' house. Jimmy and Carly and the kids were down from Spokane, WA. and they were able to spend the day with us on Monday. Ben and Aubrey returned from visiting in Boise and joined us. We were able to have all our kids together except Blake and Tiara who had returned to Moses Lake and then got on a bus for Portland and a basketball tournament there. We had another Christmas with Ben and Carly's families and then a Lyons Family Christmas party that night. Gathering with family is one of the best parts of Christmas!
Tuesday morning it was back to Rexburg where Rex and I continued to travel to Island Park and stay with our friends, the Esplins for a couple of days. We had at least 2 feet of snow fall on us during the 2 days we were at their beautiful family cabin. We played games and ate yummy food for 2 days with the Hexems and the Prue families from 9 am to midnight with a couple of little walks in the winter wonderland. I was in game time heaven! Thanks so much Keith and Caryn and Zoe!
Chad and Brittany and baby Brynn came back and joined us in Rexburg for the next 5 days. It was so fun to hold little Brynn and help feed her and care for her. She is a little snuggler and such a sweetheart! We played games together for New Years Eve and welcomed the new year by going to bed at 11 pm! We enjoyed more wonderful friends on New Years day and a wonderful testimony meeting on Sunday. I love Christmas time!

Halloween 2010. I had a big daycare party on Thursday. My sister Chantelle dressed as a rockstar,came to help me which I was really grateful for. We made Halloween party bags, did a candy walk, musical chairs, ate donuts with no hands of a dangling string, dunked for apples, hide n go seek, and pin the wart on the witch! I thought I would be creative and be "Static Cling". I dressed all in black and then pinned bounce sheets, assorted socks and even some of Tiara's old underwear to my clothes. To add some pizazz I stuck a couple of glue dots on my scalp and then stuck a balloon to my head and tried to rat my hair to look like static cling. No one got it.... the kids just asked me if I knew I had a sock on my leg. Or... " Konda... is that your costume"?A Couple of 10 yr old girls came to pick up their sister and I asked them if they knew what I was. They said no. Even after I explained it they had a blank look on their face. I knew that costume had failed. I don't even think I got a picture of it. That night my friend Jann and I planned a party for some adults. I was digging for the blue tux that Rex will dress up in every 3 or 4 years and found my wedding dress. So we stepped back in time. Thanks to Zumba I could still barely squeeze into it. We had fun playing the "Newlywed game" and Bonko!
The real Halloween night was fun to have my Mom and Marcia here to visit. We machine quilted a quilt for Mom in Idaho Falls and then handed out candy and cheetos and capri suns to our favorite little monsters. Chantelle came for supper and to visit. It was fun to see some family trick or treaters... Zac and Lindy, Ryan and Analynn and George Benson and Tela (Claire Benson's daughter). To my little grandchildren.... I love you and miss you and wish you lived closer! Blog Grandma Konda some pictures, ok?

Rex and I had a wonderful opportunity to go to Spokane
for Valentines/Presidents Weekend. We got there late
Saturday night. Sunday morning was James' Blessing
day in church. Jimmy pronounced a beautiful blessing
upon his son James and Rex was honored to be able to
stand in the circle with several of Jimmy's friends. Carly
was surprised when the Stake President, who just
happened to be speaking that day, asked her to come up
and bear her testimony of the blessings she's received
from the Lord. It was wonderful for us to be able to hear
our daughters beautiful testimony. Afterwards, in Primary,
Hallie got up and said her first scripture. It was a great
day for us to watch our children, learning, growing and
serving in the gospel. After Church we made Valentines
mailboxes and painted Valentines crafts. Monday, we
took Savannah birthday shopping while Hallie was at
dance. Then we all went swimming at the YMCA. Hallie
did some amazing jumps into her mothers arms. Savannah
and Grandma started a game of tag in the pool with Grandpa,
Carly and Hallie. Monday night was a fun treat for all of us
when we got to go to Red Lobster for FHE. Yummy cheese
biscuits and coconut shrimp. Rex and I are so grateful for
Jimmy and Carly and their sweet family. Too bad Spokane
is so far away.

Christmas Memories 2009

We had a wonderful Christmas. Ben and Aubrey came, bringing
three of our wonderful grandchildren with them. It really
made Christmas fun for all of us. We had a bowling party, a
Christmas eve talent night (Chad and Britt played a duet,
"Still, Still, Still" that was the talent winner), visits
to Hopes and Bensons, our missionary phone call from Treagan,
eating our Christmas eve feast to candlelight, presents, games,
lots of food... we truly missed Carly's family and Treag but
we are proud of the good things they are doing and hope that
we will have many more Christmas's together.

Christmas Bowling Party Surprise 2009

We had started a tradition of going bowling with the
Neilson family sometime during the Christmas holidays
three or four years ago. Then two years ago, we added
the Parkinson family to our party, since we've been good
friends with them forever and Kurt Neilson married
Michelle Parkinson. Britt and Chad kind've did some
flirting at that bowling party and started dating
shortly after that and are now married. This year
we added the Sutton family to the Bowling party since
Ben and Luke Sutton are best friends and Luke is married
to Lisa Parkinson, who is also one of Carly's best friends.
(we are all connected!) We had six lanes with 5 or 6 on
each lane. We all brought pizza and an assortment of
sides including, fruit, veggies, banana slush and
chocolate chip cookies. Yum! We had lots of food
and a ton of bowling and visiting fun. We were
surprised when it came time for each family to pay
for bowling.... a Christmas elf had snuck in and paid
for all six lanes of us! Thank you so much Christmas Elf!

Rex and I were so excited to be able to go to Hawaii for the first time! We took my parents to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary and my Mom's miraculous recovery from chemo and lung cancer. Chantelle and Guy came with us and we had a great 10 day Hawaiian adventure.

Hallie loves dogs and all along this trail people were walking their dogs. We finally asked permission to pet this dog and found out that she was a special dog that they take to hospitals to help the patients (probably children) be happy. Hallie and Savannah were so excited to be close to the doggy.

We had a wonderful visit to Spokane over Spring break. Unfortuneately, Jimmy had to work alot of the time we were there. We had a picnic down by the river and then hiked along this trail for a couple of hours. It felt so good to enjoy the sunshine and watch the last few patches of snow disappear. I love the light that eminates from Carly and Hallie in this picture.

It was my annual Daycare Easter Egg Party. We made these cute Easter basket bags, colored eggs, ate cheesy bunnies, had bunny races and then topped it all off with an easter egg hunt in the back yard. Thank goodness I had 4 helpers!

I just have to post a quick note that we have another beautiful grandchild born in August! Our little Talon Rex Fullmer born Aug. 22nd is such a handsome little man. He is long and skinny and looks just like his Dad. He came to Brittany and Chad's wedding when he was just 1 week old. He was blessed in Oct. 1 week after Conference. Talon's initials make his a T-Rex and so I sent him a little 3 month old dinosaur costume. I hope to get pictures from Aubrey pretty soon. hint hint.

Savannah Jane Dunn was born to Carly and Jimmy Dunn on Thursday, Feb. 28th. She was born at 8:30 am and weighed 8 lbs. 11 oz. an d 21 inches long. She has lots of dark hair and is already loved and adored by her family.
